SENATOR ANDREA HUNLEY ANNOUNCES SHE WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Senate Democratic Assistant Leader Andrea Hunley (D-Indianapolis) announced today that she will not seek re-election when her term expires in November 2026.  Elected to the Indiana General Assembly in 2022, Hunley will serve her full term and continue delivering for her constituents.

“Serving the families, neighborhoods, and small businesses of Indianapolis remains my top priority,” Hunley said. “Right now, in the middle of an intense legislative session,  I am focused on advancing solutions to the rising cost of living for Hoosiers by tackling housing, healthcare, childcare, and utility bills.”

As a member of the Senate Tax & Fiscal Policy Committee, Hunley understands the central role Indianapolis has as the state’s economic engine and key cultural hub.  “Our city boasts creative entrepreneurs and long-standing local businesses, vibrant neighborhoods and corporate headquarters, community-centered nonprofits and strong public schools. I will keep working side by side with our neighborhoods and businesses to champion a better quality of life for everyone in Indy. I’ve realized that the best way for me to do this is to focus on our local community.”

With two decades of experience in education as a teacher and principal, Hunley brings a proven track record of bold leadership to public service. High-quality education, strong neighborhoods with affordable housing, and a thriving capital city remain key focus areas for Hunley.

Senator Hunley continues to discern how she will be called to serve next. “While my role may change, my commitment to this work will not, “ she said. “Our city needs bold leadership to be a world class destination for people to work, play, study, and stay. I am not going anywhere.”
